Our tongue and our tone can :
- Build up or beat down
- They can boost or bruise
- They can help or hinder
- They can trap or transform
Words can literally launch us to soar or keep us grounded and stuck for a lifetime.
We are surrounded by 1000’s of words every day.
- 1,300,000,000. 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute! Almost 5 billion videos are watched on Youtube every single day.
- Facebook and Instagram: Five hundred, twenty five billion words per day!
We are bombarded by words all day long.
So it’s no wonder that we can so easily adopt or absorb attitudes, tones and communication styles that may not align with how we desire to be communicated to or how God wants us to use our words in the lives of those around us.
Parents, “No one has more potential to influence your child than you.” Leverage your words to influence your children in ways that will leave lasting smiles in their memories and will impact the way they parent your future grandchildren.
Husbands and wives, No one has more potential to influence your beloved than you do. Leverage your words to lavish them with love, support, encouragement, strength and confidence. They should never have to guess if, how and why you love them. Don’t just say those three little words, tell them why. Why do you love them.
Yes, it’s true we show love through our actions too, but remember words are powerful and needed. When God spoke, things happened – the universe was created, people were healed and lives were transformed in an instant.
Single friends, you have the potential to speak truth and life into the people around you. You are the image-bearer of God ~ be Jesus with skin on everywhere you go!
Students, you have incredible potential to influence the people around you… your parents, your siblings, your teachers, your friends and every follower you have on Instagram. How will you use your platform?
Maybe today at lunch today, or later this week while you’re driving you can ask your family or your friends, Who has significantly impacted your life with their words? How can you use your words to make a difference in somebody else’s life?
Tongues and Tones… use them wisely.
